Challenge Tracker

Click the button below to open the Challenge Tracker.

Add your name to the bottom of the list and paste each assignment into the corresponding column beginning with the Pre-Work and then each day’s challenge work.

I will be giving feedback along the way to everyone who’s sharing your work in the tracker.

Fill the Challenge Tracker out completely by Thursday, November 10 at 12:00 p.m. CST to be eligible for prizes.

Pre-Work: Writing Mantra

Especially if you don’t feel like a "real writer," or feel a wave of uncertainty during the challenge, let’s make a plan now so you can show up like the writer YOU ARE deep inside.

To create your Writing Mantra, you brainstorm all the best things people have said about you, your writing, and your stories or ideas.

Then, we put it all together with an easy fill-in-the-blank template.

Click the button below and “save a copy” of the worksheet.

Create your Writing Mantra and add it to the Challenge Tracker.

Check out the feedback I recorded for everyone that put your Writing Mantras into the Challenge Tracker by 5:00 p.m. on 10.29. And yes, I will continue adding more feedback to new mantras, so write yours and share it in the tracker.

Pre-Work: Envision Your Book

For anyone with more than one idea for books you might write, this is THE exercise for you.

And even if you’re pretty certain of your book’s topic, you’ll find validation with the Envision Your Book brainstorm and maybe think of some new ideas for why it makes sense to write this book now.

This worksheet is best viewed as a PDF and downloaded due to the grid design.

Click below for the feedback on the new Writing Mantras since the last video and the Envision Your Book entries, as of 11.6. You’ll find the timestamps for when I address each student listed on the video page in YouTube for your quick reference.

All three live sessions Monday, November 7-Wednesday, November 9 are 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. CST at this Zoon link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88331046583

Day 1: Nail Your Author Pitch

The next time someone asks you, “what’s your book about?”

Easily and quickly describe your book so they say, “Wow! I’m excited about your book. Tell me where to get my copy.”

Your Author Pitch is essential as you talk about your book with potential readers or supporters, as well as literary agents, bookstores, the press, and more.

Nail your Author Pitch with the brainstorming questions and fill-in-the-blank pitch templates in the worksheet below and then add yours to the Challenge Tracker.

The button below will take you to the feedback video I recorded Tuesday morning for your Author Pitches in the Challenge Tracker, as well as the new entries for previous exercises. Your timestamps are listed so you can find your feedback easily. I hope you’ll listen to more. Something I said to another student might spark an idea for you!

Day : Position Your Book As a Leading Title

Today we position or re-position your book so you feel 100% suited to write it.

We look at different kinds of nonfiction books and the advantages of each.

Plus we hack the Amazon algorithm.

Follow along with the worksheet below to create your leading title declaration. Then add it to the Challenge Tracker.

For everyone with new Challenge Tracker entries as of the morning of Wednesday, November 9th, I respond to each of you.

(When I get to Marie Posthumus, I had paused the recording, and somehow when I restarted it, I wasn't sharing my screen--unbeknownst to me. So, From Marie to Denise, you still have all my suggestions and compliments, and you may want to pull up the Challenge Tracker to best follow along).

Day 3: Create Your Book’s Profit Plan

Here's a question that a lot of would-be authors ask me:

"Is my book worth writing?"

Your investment of time and money into your book should “pay off” in terms of impact and also finances.

Today, I show you different ways nonfiction authors have profitable books.

Grab your worksheet and review the 11 ways nonfiction authors make money--besides book sales--so you can create your profit plan. Add your work to the Challenge Tracker to get my feedback.

This video has the last recorded feedback for everyone that completed the Challenge Tracker by the deadline. You’ll find your timestamps in the video description. It has been an absolute pleasure finding out more about you and your books!

All three live sessions Friday, November 11, Monday, November 14, and Thursday, November 17 are 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. CST. Get your unique webinar link to attend here: https://bit.ly/2022authormasterclass
